Armodafinil is a federally controlled drug used and trusted by doctors to treat medical conditions related to sleep disorder. Nuvigil for sleep disorder are used in scenarios where patients suffer from conditions of narcolepsy and obstructive sleep apnea or hypopnea. It is also used to promote wakefulness in individuals suffering from shift work disorders. Uncontrolled and indiscriminate use may lead to substance abuse and therefore this drug is never prescribed for individuals having a history of addictive behavior. Dosages of armodafinil
This is usually an oral drug and is available in the tablet form in the dosage variants of 50mg, 150mg and 250mg. you can take the tablets orally with or without food depending on your preference. In the case of people suffering from narcolepsy or apnea, the medication has to be taken 1 hour before sleep. However, if used to treat shift work disorders it has to be taken 1 hour before you start your shift. Missed dose and overdose
In case you miss a dose of nuvigil, it is better to take the dose as soon as you remember. Skip the dose if required and directly proceed to the next dosage as double doses may lead to over dosage. In the event of an over dosage, you should immediately call the emergency services or consult a physician as this controlled substance may cause life risk. Some symptoms of over dosage are palpitation, dizziness, fast heart beat, irregular pulse and hallucinations and delusions.
Storage
Armodafinil nuvigil should be kept in cool and dark areas away from direct sunlight or heat. It should be kept away from children and pets as it is not recommended for pediatric or animal use. Do not store in places which are easily accessible to others as it is legally a crime to share this medication with someone else unless recommended by a physician. Do not store this drug if not needed. Expired medicine should not be kept and should be immediately disposed. Do not flush the medication down the toilets for disposal unless advised to do so. The medication should not be continued for more than 12 weeks or as prescribed by doctor.
